Isn't it ironic?

When my son was just 6 months old, I ran across (what I thought to be) the cutest bedding set at Pottery Barn. Even though he was in a crib, I loved it so much I decided to just buy it at the time and hang on to it for a couple years until he was in a big boy bed.

I bought the whole
"theme." The quilt, the shams, the matching pillow... the matching drapes!

Little did I know, less than a year after I "invested" in this cute DOGGIE bedding set, my little boy would be diagnosed with significant allergies to cats. AND DOGS!

Nevertheless, his room is still adorned with Doggies here...

Doggies there...

And doggies everywhere!

Isn't it ironic??

P.S. In case you are wondering... yes, we DO have a REAL dog in the house, too. We used to have a cat, too. I tried really hard to get rid of our dog. Too difficult! We got rid of the cat first, and THANK GOD, it majorly solved the problem. The cat dander was far more bothersome than the dog dander. Alex occassionally sneezes, but for the most part he is unbothered. Our dog is a small little girl, and fortunately stays off all furniture and out of his bedroom.

This is our real dog, Maddy.

Feeling your pain. Flynn was so sick the first year of her life & we couldn't figure out how we weren't managing her asthma & allergies, when D'OH, we found out she was allergic to dogs. And...of course...we had a 2 year old lab.
We sadly said good bye to him. He now lives with an animal lover 1/2 an hour away.
She got him a memory-foam dog bed & boils carrots for him.
I think he's probably glad Flynn was allergic to him.

All the pups are so cute--especially Maddie. How could you say GOODBYE to a face like that? I'm so happy that you found out Alex could manage life with her.

That's too funny about the pampered lab with the memory-foam bed and boiled carrots. What next, peeled grapes?!? =)

Oooh, the real puppy and the quilted puppies are so cute! And, yes, ironic. Glad you're able to still have them around and keep Alex's allergies under control. And have a cute room for him to boot!

Such cute pictures, especially the last one of your REAL dog. :) I remember how hard it was for, the idea of getting rid of your pets. You went back and forth forever about it, and I'm SO glad it worked itself out!

If the weather holds out, I hope to see you at MOPS tomorrow!

That puppy set is so cute. I did the same thing - bought quilts and things before I was even pregnant with the next baby. :-) They run out so quick, you have to get it while you can.

my husband is allergic to cats (severely), yet a few years ago, he got a cat for our son. Why??? Who knows? But, that cat has never stayed a night outdoors, and we love her dearly. soon after she came to live with us, we found a great product at our local pet store called "allerpet C". It's a spray that we put on her, rubbed in, and significantly decreased his allergy symptoms. I believe that there was an "allerpet D" for dogs. You may try it out. It's completely safe. our cat hates being sprayed, but she's okay! and thankfully, now my husband can open his eyes! good luck!
