come again??

Seriously. Does anyone know what this is? This came in our latest crop share box. I am scared. Leah- I'm counting on you, girl. Help me out. Can someone please name this alien vegetable for us??

Regardless of what it is, my husband has insisted that he is NOT eating it, and if I sneak it into some kind of dish he will revolt. Got it.

I would think some form of cauliflower or broccoli.

Am I right?

Oh and it reminds me of the 'monster' in Little Shop of Horrors. ;0)

I honestly thought it was a sea creature. It disturbed me know that it was growing in your yard. I would drive to the ocean and put it back where it came from. I am sure it got lost, or a wrong turn or something.

Just last week I saw one of these Romanesco things on a homeschool science site talking about Fibonacci numbers/spirals in nature. Here's where I found it (about 3/4 down the page):

Personal/R.Knott/Fibonacci/
fibnat.html#petals

(If you actually want to check it out, you may have to type out most of this address manually.)

Each little growth is identical to (but a smaller version of) the thing as a whole...and tastes like a cross between broccoli and cauliflower.

Math and science can be yummy. I wish I had one of 'em. Have fun with it!
