The beauty of home school is that any day we choose can be a "field trip day." And, as has been the case- sometimes we just wake up one day and feel like going somewhere... no advance planning necessary.
A couple weeks ago my good friend, Jessica and I (who happen to have matching age AND matching gender children) headed up to the Children's Museum and the kids absolutely LOVED it.
Ariana exploring bubbles...
And there is Ariana's "counterpart" - Gabby. Seriously, she's the cutest thing ever. And Ariana adores her. There isn't a day that goes by that Ariana doesn't brings up her name and remind me that, "Gabby's my FRIEND!"
And here is Grace's "counterpart" Ayana (aka, Grace's best friend). She has, perhaps, the sweetest spirit of any 7 year old girl I've ever known....
I love watching our older girls play and I love listening to them visit. They are filled with such sweetness and innocence and I feel so blessed that they are friends. Here they are cooking in the restaurant. I'm not sure who that kid in the middle is... he is not their friend- but wanted to be in the picture.
Future aspiration- Downtown bus driver...
And see that cutie to the left in the brown shirt? That's Alex's buddy- Joey. They share a love of Cars, a love of making roaring dinosaur noises at their sisters, and Mommy's who love to text each other and visit on the cell phone.
Life is good.
And even better when you have good friends to share it with!

I love how there's an A for your G and a G for your little A. (You're probably aware that I'm obsessed with names, and likely have a little typography crush too.)
And we always talk about planning to homeschool...that is, if we add children to our little compost worm family someday. ;)
I look like sooo much fun!!!!
Angela...that is such a sweet tribute to Jessica and her kids! What a blessing to have her friendship and now your kids are cementing them as well! VERY COOL! Very blessed!
I wish we had friends that had the same age children, same sex etc. I have a friend who has a daughter a year younger then mine & a sonn a year younger then my youngest but no one for my oldest!!
And we had a field trip today...I blogged about it.
Oh and another homeschool perk? We finished our curriculum for the year today....a full 6 weeks before public schools are scheduled to be out.
Me, again LOL!!
I don't think we started too early, it was around Sept. 1st this year. As we were moving in August. And we took at least 6 days off to go to WDW in September, some @ Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. And we usually work only 2 subjects on Fridays because my hubby is off work on Friday.
I guess we just work fast...I guess I just 'make' them work alot so we can get finished kind of early in the year!
It is indeed a treasure to have same gender/age families as friends for your children. Oh, how I wish we had something similar. The families we know and love don't match up quite as well for each of our children.
Fun field trip. I love the Children's Museum!
I am not a homeschool mom, but our home is full of schooling and field trips. We love meeting up with friends on any random and unplanned day of the week. Often taking my first grader out of school to join in. Your pictures are just darling.
Okay, in my early pregnancy sickness I totally missed this. Here I sit, crying at my computer at midnight. The lots of tears kind of crying.
Could anyone but God do something so wonderful as to match our children this way?! My biggest fear about homeschooling, you know, was if my kids would have friends. It turns out that homeschooling gave them the chance to have the very best friends ever - in your kids!!
It's not often in this world you find friends that are really "heart & soul friends." I have not found even a handful in my life. But in you, that is exactly what I have. It's so hard to put into words what that means to me. What a treasure, a blessing, God has given me in you. What an awesome, amazing friend you are, and I am blessed - SO BLESSED - to call you mine. I love you.
