Day 2: Pikes Peak

Let me preface by saying that though I am posting about "Day 2" - we are actually at the close of Day 3 (about to go to bed!). But I was so tired the first evening we got here, my posting got delayed a bit. Nevertheless, here are details from "Day 2" of our Colorado Road trip.... and I stress the word ROAD - we have done SO much driving, even after we've arrived!

Day 2: Pikes Peak Mountain Drive

I hadn't done Pike's Peak drive for years- last time was with my Dad when we came out to Colorado Springs about 7 years ago for a business trip. It was strange because in many ways it seemed like yesterday I was standing at that very lake with my Dad (I have a similar pic with the same background)- but now to be standing here with lots of kids.... MY KIDS!!

Daddy's Kiddos....

Ta Da!!!

The picture does not do the view justice! It is a little scary driving to the top of the Peak (for me, anyway!), but definitely exciting, as well.

When we got to the top, we got out of the car and I rounded everyone up for the obligatory pictures real quickly...

Unfortunately, we didn't last very long because the Altitude really got to Grace and for a moment I was afraid she was going to faint on me. I got her back in the car and she pretty much passed out until we were about 1/2 way back down the mountain.

Two of my handsome guys....

I know I shouldn't be envious of you being in the Rocky Mountains...but I am a bit! I have a picture of our family right in front of the Pike's Peak sign as well, and it makes me want to go back--NOW (especially with it being 105 degrees here yesterday).

I hope Grace adjusts to the altitude soon since you'll be in it for the rest of the week!

Wave to Estes Park for me! Oh yes, don't forget the chapstick and lotion in them thar hills. It's DRYYYYYYY!

Looking forward to more posts. It'll help keep me cool in these triple digits!

WHAT FUN!!! Love seeing all of the pictures of your family time together!

Poor little Grace with the altitude. She sure looked WIPED in that picture of her sleeping.

And, great picture of you and your hubby too! You guys are so cute! :-)

Hope that today is going well!

Ya know what keeps bringing me back to Colorado? Certainly not the elevation, I get elevation sickness, and I am deathly afraid of heights, Pike's Peak will not ever be on my list of "to do's" while ever there...I doubt, but I do love to ski! Anyway, I stand in such awe of the mountains that God created and what a visual of each pine tree planted by hand by our creator. It amazes me. It is hard to really see or comprehend each grain of sand while standing at the edge of the ocen for me, or for that matter the individual drops of water that make up our vast ocean...but when I stand viewing the trees on a mountain side, I can SEE IT! I can see God's great hand and I can actually feel how he placed each hair on my head by his mighty hand. It amazes me...so, I love seeing the picture's...of your adorable family of course, but to see you guys standing before what I condsider God's outstreched arms...how cool!

ENJOY!
