Sebastian's Inlet

Yesterday we spent the morning at Sebastian's Inlet- a really unique area where the ocean is channeled into the Indian River. Surfers surf on the ocean side, anglers crowd the channel & the ocean side to fish, dolphins frolick in the chanel & families can swim in the "inlet" part.

The kids had an absolute blast splashing around for (what seemed like) hours! I was a nervous wreck because the tide in the inlet was so incredibly low that it was only about 30 feet away from the rushing chanel waters that sweep you right out to the ocean (not to mention the shark danger!). There are an unbelievable number of sharks off the coast. Though we've been spending every waking moment on the beach, you won't find any of us actually going IN the water past our ankles! The other night, I actually watched a shark swimming round and round for a good 15 minutes straight out from our house, very close to shore! But going to Sebastian's Inlet gave the kids some fun time in the water as you can see below!

The kids had so much fun watching boats & dolphins in the channel, just feet from where we were splashing around!

Wow...that sounds so adventurous!!! :-) Seeing sharks up that close...yes, I would only be venturing out into the water up to my ankles as well!!!

Glad to hear that you are able to have some great time at the beach...that sounds SOOOOOOO inviting!!! :-)
